Mission Statement
It is the Mission of the Warnborough Theology Department to train and equip modern church leaders at a rigorous academic level by applying biblical wisdom and apologetic principles to the creation and dissemination of effective discipleship systems and unique educational programs.
Vision Statement
Warnborough’s Theology Department is dedicated to the biblical ideal of One Church, created by the Father, with Jesus as its head, bound by the Holy Spirit throughout the world, penetrating all denominations; and to the development of leaders who build bridges and unite doctrine, promoting peace and strengthening God’s Kingdom on Earth.
Biblical Basis
“Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all
agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.” (1 Corinthians 1:10)
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling.” (Ephesians 4:4)
“So that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:6)
“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.” (John 17:20-21)
It is obvious that peace and unity are central themes of the Bible and the teachings of Jesus, so shall it be with our department.
Historical Basis
Unfortunately, since the very beginning of Christianity there have been divisions, but also since the beginning there have been Ecumenical Councils and attempts to create http://howmed.net/accutane-isotretinoin/ unity and peace. The great majority of modern doctrine from all major denominations has been the result of these efforts. For instance, the first Ecumenical Council was in Nicaea in 325 and resulted in a mostly stabilized doctrine, and our modern English Bible was also the result of similar efforts over a millennium later.
It is the expressed desire of Warnborough’s Theology Department to add to this history by continual ecumenical efforts toward unity and stabilized doctrine, presented through modern delivery systems but at the depth of ancient seminaries. Read about our policy on translations of the Bible.
Corporate Oath and Non-Discrimination Policy
Warnborough Theology is dedicated to unity and peace and will accept all believers from all walks of life and denominations with the understanding that the Holy Spirit is alive and well, functioning today, and establishing the One Church of God through the One Spirit. No one will be judged, and no discrimination will be allowed based on any age, race, gender, cultural background, handicap, or sexual orientation.
Obviously, we realize that the last of those examples sets us apart from almost every other seminary in the world, but we must point out that Jesus was asked what the most important commandment of all was, and He answered: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these” (Mark 12:30-31).
We must take His answer seriously and not bury it under our own traditional agendas. All who love the Lord and want to grow closer to Him are welcome.
