Warnborough College

MA in Practical Theology and Biblical Leadership

This programme is for church leaders and biblical scholars ready to take that next step.  There are many differences between other MA programs and this particular program from Warnborough, but the two most significant are Focus and Delivery Method.  The majority of courses worldwide that feature this level of rigor and depth are delivered live, so the fact that this can be pursued online is unusual, but the focus is also tighter than standard MDiv or Ministry MAs.  The materials are unique, the instruction level and academic standards high, and the output as extensive as any program on earth.

So, who should do this?

Modern Church Leaders seeking more, but perhaps too committed to their church or family to pack up and move to a distant university.  Leaders that want to dive deeper into the word and understand their purpose more fully.  Pastors and Bible Teachers and Scholars that want to grow closer to the heart of God and be armed to bring such depth to others, while maintaining their lives and missions intact.  That is what makes this program special.  Are you ready to become a Modern Holy Warrior?  What we call a Modern Paladin?

MA Requirements

Master’s candidates will be required to complete a minimum of 120 ETCS (60 US) credits, which include an independent Master’s Thesis/Dissertation [Point of International Clarity:  In the U.S. and other related countries, the Academic Paper produced for a Master’s Degree is called a Thesis and the much larger more in-depth book written for a PhD a Dissertation, but this is different in the U.K. where Warnborough is based.  Please do not be confused if you see a Master’s requirement of a 30,000 word “Dissertation” and a PhD requirement of a 90,000 word “Thesis” if you are used to the American System, http://www.noc2healthcare.com/propecia-finasteride-online/ these words are simply switched between the UK and US.]  Compulsory modules are all equivalent to the 500 level or above.

For Practical Theology, students must choose a subject of Theology as it applies to the real world.  A practical approach to Biblical leadership typically entails studying a book or section of the Bible, or weaving a theme throughout the text.  Some examples would include:

  • God’s Heart for Leaders expressed within the Book of Acts.
  • The evolution of Biblical Leadership Theory from Old to New Testament.
  • Peter as a model for leadership through Redemption.
  • Paul’s lessons to Timothy, Titus, and Philemon.
  • The Teachings of Jesus on the Church.
  • A Study of Women Leaders within the Bible.

There are literally thousands of possible subjects and examples, and a student should develop those ideas as they apply to their particular mission and role within the church.
